WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Rain FC announce that their leading scorer and the WPSL Rockies Division Offensive Player of the Year Amy Smith will return to the club for the 2026 season.
Smith led the team with eight goals in 2025, despite starting just five games. She also converted a penalty that was the only goal in the Rain season finale, a 1-0 win over Colorado Pride that secured the WPSL Rockies Division championship. She was also named the division’s Offensive Player of the Year at the end of the season.
However, Smith will not be playing in the Rain attack in 2026, as she is moving to center back for the season.
“Amy is a big time player and we look forward to having our Offensive Player of the Year back in a Rain jersey even though she may be playing a different position this season, Rain head coach Kelly Brown said. “She continues to train hard and will be a great presence on and off the field for us this year.”
In the fall, she helped LSU reach the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament, making 24 appearances, eight of which were starts. She scored a brace in a 4-1 win over Ole Miss, as well.
Smith said she is looking forward to bolstering the back line and competing for more silverware in 2026.
“I can’t wait to get back for another season and win the championship again,” Smith said.
