WINDSOR, Colo. — As we get ready for the 2026 Northern Colorado Rain FC season, it seems a good time to look back at what was a very successful 2025 campaign.
A season that ended with a Rockies Division championship did not start the way Rain FC had hoped. A 2-0 home loss to PSD Academy on the first day of the season put Rain behind the 8-ball from the start.
The response came six days later and it was emphatic, a 6-1 win over Colorado Pride in the club’s second game of the season. Forwards Abby Ballek and Macy Schultz each recorded a brace, with Mia Casey and Amy Smith providing goals, as well to help Rain earn their first three points of the season.
Rain’s first match of June was their second consecutive away trip, this time to Colorado Blizzard FC, and their second consecutive lopsided win, this time a 9-0 triumph. Ballek and Schultz each scored a brace for the second time in a week, with Brooke Pavlich also scoring a pair of goals. Smith, Hope Thao, and Skylar Haase also got onto the scoresheet to contribute to the win.
The winning run continued as Rain made it a 22-1 aggregate scoreline over three matches with a 7-0 thrashing of Indios Denver FC in their first home match since the season-opening defeat. This time it was Kiley Ballek scoring a brace, with Abby adding a goal of her own. Smith also scored a pair of goals, with Haase and Anisa Guajardo rounding out the goalscorers in the win.
With three straight wins putting wind in their sails, Rain got revenge on PSD in match five of the season with a 4-1 win away from home. Haase started the scoring the first half, and Casey, Audrey Teague, and Smith added goals after halftime to seal the win. They then made it a perfect four away wins in four games with a 2-1 win over Indios as Casey and Maddie Burr provided the goals.
The penultimate match of the season was a rematch against Blizzard and Rain managed to one-up themselves, taking a 12-0 home win. Kiley Ballek scored four times in the win, with Abby Ballek, Smith, Thao, and Haase scoring a pair of goals each.
Rain needed a win to seal the Rockies Division championship in their final match of the season at home against Colorado Pride, and Smith’s 20th minute penalty proved to be enough for the 1-0 win and the division title.
As 2026 approaches, Rain are getting ready to defend their division crown against foes both familiar and new. Stay tuned for more information on the 2026 roster, schedule, and more as we prepare for a new WPSL season.
