WINDSOR, Colo. — Northern Colorado Rain FC announces the addition of defender Samantha Smith to the roster for the 2024 USL W League season.
Smith, a native of Boise, Idaho, has played for the United States at multiple youth levels, most recently co-captaining the US under-19s to a bronze medal at the 2023 Pan American Games. She also netted a brace against Morocco in the 2022 FIFA U-17 World Cup in 2022.
“The minute I got this job, I wanted her to wear a Rain jersey and for our paths to cross again,” Rain FC head coach Kelly Brown said. “She is one of the most humble players I’ve coached with one of the most impressive resumes. You will certainly see her on TV one day. To get a player of her caliber to wear our crest not only validates our ambitions of the club, but is a testament to the style of play we are trying to achieve.”
Smith has committed to play for Stanford University in the fall, a team that was national runner-up in 2023 and that has been to the College Cup in five of the last 10 seasons, winning a pair of national championships in that stretch.
“I can’t wait to join Rain FC this summer,” Smith said. “I’m super excited for the opportunity to be in consistent, competitive training and game environments. Kelly was my ODP coach several years ago, and I’m eager to work with her again.”
